Germany

German wines are unique among the wines of the world. Due to the northern-most latitudes of her vineyards, Germany produces mostly white wines, low in alcohol. The residual acidity produces a harmony that is most agreeable for all types of consumption. The unique qualities of each of the thirteen regions are governed by one national wine law. This law provides that a tremendous amount of information be made available on each label. Most of the grape varieties grown in Germany are not found in abundance elsewhere. German wine offerings are by strictly established quality levels defined by the weight of the must among other very strict factors such as acidity and natural sugar content.
